Ugh, I loved my VW until I didn't. Fewer than 80K miles and something was constantly going wrong and needing professional repair (ie even with some mech savvy I could not pull the engine apart easily to repair things myself). The interiors were so inferior and fell apart early. Lots of other mechanical and body issues cropped up starting about 60K miles and it seemed that almost everything that went wrong with that car required about $2500 in repair costs. What a PITA but a hoot to drive. A fun to drive money pit of a car...
