I don't know why you had to have your cat put to sleep, hopefully it wasn't because you'd gotten married. but you do know that if an animal is seriously injured, or ill (with no chance of recovery) or extremely old that the kindest thing that one can do is to put them to sleep. And presumably that means that you'll never again know the joy of owning a pet.
