boyd 30mm rolleur - shortest stem possible?

wifey's bike has Boyd 30mm Rolleur wheels. she pinch flatted the other day and fortunately I was carrying two spare tubes. one of which, I think a conti ultra light, was too short of a stem to get my pump on.

the other one was no more than 5mm longer but it was just enough.

my wheels are ksyrium elites-- box section. any tube works. long stems look pretty silly, but work.

so, that's the purpose of this thread. what's the shortest stem I can reasonably use on her 30mm deep wheel? I've had no complaints about kenda, conti, michelin and vittoria tubes. I don't like specialized-- the valve sticks a lot and makes them a PITA to inflate. but I'm looking to pick up a few spares in the 38, 43, or 48mm range.
