Could the Dura Ace shifters be from the era when they were not compatible with the rest of Shimano's offerings? Back when you had to match DuraAce derailers with Dura Ace shifters?
These shifters are brand new, I bought them retail about 6 weeks ago. Shimano says that any Dura Ace component can only be used with other DA components but I know that's not the case because surly ships the bike stock with DA barcons and a LX r. der.- although their stock bike also employs friction shifting.
