True. An under appreciated benefit of the winter commute are the months of solitude and unimpeded riding. At times that can be mistaken for loneliness and the fight for survival when it's 10 below and the wind is howling. Every season certainly has it's pros and cons, as long as I'm on the bike I can handle it all.
+1 I love the mostly empty paths and bike lanes. Although this year I was never totally alone; even on the ice-ruttiest days there were still at least 3 or 4 other cyclists out.
Of course, this winter in MN was not much of a winter at all. Only a week or two below zero and not much snow.
