I'm glad you made this thread. I put on a new chain last night, and I noticed that the lube seemed different than I remember. Didn't it used to be kind of a waxy grease? This had a much lighter oil on it. With this thread in mind, I layered on the Pedro's before the big ride today...didn't last the whole ride, but as good as any lube could I guess.

I don't think the Shimano factory lube would have lasted the first hour.
