Bikes: quite a few

Happy you fixed it.

Good luck
Thanks! It's a GT GTR Series 1. It has derailleur barrel adjusters under the downtube as IthaDan described.

THey are always a combination of playing a little with the tube position for the angle of the cage and the limit screws. I've even had to flex the cage sides on occasion to slightly wider or narrower to make the shifting work nicely over a reasonable range of rear cog options without a lot of rubbing.
Interesting...

I went on a ride and it seemed fine, did a full range of shifting and again, the FD is hitting the chain in the low-low gear. So I actually pulled over and re-tightened the shifting cable (it seemed a lot looser than the RD cable), and did some L screw adjustments. It seems ok again. At least I know what I can do to try to fix it now. I'll be riding with my multitool over the next few days (I usually only ride with it on long rides).
