No. Like all spring arm tensioners the Alpine is designed to tension a chain after it was been made as short as possible, not to take up chain wrap like a derailleur. The device you will need is a Paul Melvin. The Melvin has a 20T chain wrap so it will handle the 16T warp your setup will require. Of course you could also use a derailleur (modified for SS or not) , but what fun would that be.
