I did look at the SL version with the complete groupo, but I need the compact crank. I ride up Mt Diablo on weekends, and I'd lose a kneecap without the 34/28. Also the Carbon Steerer on the SL scares me. I'm trying to steer away from anything carbon. It's just one less thing to worry about hence my pick for the Ti frame. I'll probably replace the fork somewhere down the line as well.
