Once again, adding a full link to your chain will add one full inch to the total chain length, allowing you to move your axle one half inch rearward. Adding a half link will add one half inch to the total length of your chain, allowing you to move your chain one quarter of an inch rearward.

These arbitrary measurements of the plates and rollers are irrelevant. What matters is how much you need to push the rear axle back to obtain chain tension afer adding links, which in this case would be 1/4 of an inch and way too much.

This thread really exposes how little some of the resident know it alls are able to grasp very elementary concepts if they don't deal with them regularly.
