I'll be hitting the frame again for its 2nd stage of cleaning soon. I also need to decide whether I'll keep the three flavored "neopolitan" mix of component brands on the bike or replace one or two of them to come up with a more cohesive theme/group.

I'm not sure how things were stateside in the 70's but here in Europe it was customary to just get the best parts for the purpose. F.i., many bikes were equiped with Mafac brakes, whatever the rest of the components were. The idea that everything has to be from the same "gruppo" hadn't sunk in yet. (Still hasn't, with me at least.)
