You can't compare the ride of a fixie with that of a road bike. You'd have a better chance of comparing the feel of a cruiser to a fixie, than a road bike. When you set into the drops and you're going full speed, there's nothing that can match that feeling but another road bike. That's especially so, when you pause to coast. Perhaps another road bike that can deliver a faster, yet smoother ride, would be better. However, there's no fixie that could even come close. A single speed can approximate the feel of a road bike more so than a fixie. However, even at that, it's got to have drop handlebars, to better capture the feeling. However, the fixie gives a totally different feeling, altogether. I may be wrong, but that's just my take on it!
