Ouch..
About two hours ago I was commuting to the gym with a few friends like I always do, but I had a feeling something bad was going to happen. I was right. While riding at a normal pace in the proper lane, a group of cyclist decided to plow straight through us even though they had the other side of the lane where they should have gone. We all managed to dodge them, but because I was focused on getting out of their way so they don't hit us, I only had a few seconds to look back before moving over...
...Before I could react, I saw some hipster on a fixie going way too fast. He decided that the the half of foot clearance on the should was enough to get past me, and then turn way too soon, clipping my front wheel which caused me to flip the bike (I don't even remember how) and I landed really hard on my shoulder. The guy continued riding and flew through the crosswalk without stopping for traffic.
I bent two rims, tore up a grip, popped my chain and bent my derailleur and broke my seat. He DID come back, but before I could explain the damage he did, he darted off. So now I am in pain, left with a broken bike. Thankfully two other cyclist stopped to see if I was alright. Luckily I have a spare seat and a friendly LBS that can fix it.
