I bought a brand new pair of the new design Crank Brothers 50/50 2 pedals a couple of weeks ago. They had zero play when first installed. I love these pedals, they grip great, are lightweight, and super smooth. I happened to grab one today and detected a slight amount of vertical play now after a couple hundred miles. They both have the same amount of play. I disassembled a pedal and torqued the nut to 4 nm per the instructions and the play is still there. I even bumped it a .5 nm tighter and there is still that slight play. I just reassemebled them and wrote Crank brothers asking if this is normal. Seems to me like a $80 pair of pedals should be tight and smooth but I could be wrong, maybe this is normal ? It isn't major, just barely detectable.
