Pedals are[ after the head set that never rotates completely] the slowest rotating bearing on the bike.
and to get a low profile pedal, its either tiny ball bearings, needle bearings,
which still need a second thrust bearing.. balls again, or a Bushing.

got an Ergon Pedal they went with bushings, they work fine , no slop.
