Remember the Whizzer, a 26" full sized bike with a gas tank on the top bar and a motor down by the chain ring? At least that's what I have always called them... Anyway, was on my way home today, south on Hwy 441 in the bike lane, when I caught sight of a fellow coming up behind me on a bike, as I was stopped for a red light. The light changed, I got up on the pedal and started moving, just as I heard this noise and the fellow on the motorized bike (Whizzer?) came by me on the right side as I crossed the center of the intersection. He smiled and kept going, I started shifting up on my Bacchetta and realized as I got to commuting speed that I was GAINING on him. He kept looking over his shoulder at me as I hooked up to the next gear and closed the distance by half. Pretty soon I was cranking away, hanging right on his rear wheel right at 21mph. He looked back and me and I said,"Speed up!" It was then that I realized that he was at full throttle, and I was not. So, as soon as traffic cleared on my left, I moved into the lane, and pulled up alongside him. He looked over at me and said, "Damn man!" I was cranking 90-100 and hitting 27 mph as I got past him and moved back into the bike lane a few seconds later. He quickly dropped from my sight as I slowed some, and continued south towards town.
