well the clearance between the outside chainring and the inside face of the crank arm
was always notoriously scant, so the relocation will let the current FD work better.

spider out side of the chain ring, ..

now routering out with the milling machine a counter sink to inset the crank flange
into so there is a bit more space between the outer face of the chainring,
and the inside face of the crank arm .. would be a welcome change.
