Fietsbob must be old like me.....There's only a couple people on here that have heard of this before, every time I mention this I catch alot of flak,so I stopped.

You don't need $20 fiber spokes or any fancy tools! A pair of needle nose pliers, some extra long spokes and a little practice.Bend a couple up,strap them to your rack with a few zipties.

Cut off head, put an s bend in the spoke,no need to remove cassette. You can lace a complete wheel like that if needed.

Emergency spokes for a $1.

A company called Eldi used to make the pliers to make the bend in the spoke but I haven't seen them in 30 years.
