I rarely buy complete bikes, and when I do its because it is already set up the way I want, or at least close enough that I don't need to upgrade stuff.
Exactly correct any rider that knows or cares what their bikes cost is a beginner. My current bikes cost between 0 and 10,000. Bikes come and go all the time and parts even more often. I can't even guess how many bikes I've owned or where the parts cost or came from.
