Bikes: Reynolds 853 Jamis Quest 1990s

The hanger was indeed tweaked just a little toward the wheel. I adjusted the chain to ride on the 3rd highest cog then test road the bike and listened for rubs and squeaks. There were none so I left for work this morning. I was going to drop off the bike to get it repaired.

On my way to work I topped a hill while seated and hear this "bang" at my rear wheel and suddenly I am stopping very fast. I get off and look to see that the chain has ripped the upper jockey wheel off the rear d, stripped the screw, further bent the hanger, bent the rear d cage, and in general screwed up my ride.

Got to the shop and they had to cold forge the drop out in place and suggested forcefully that this not happen again or I will need to get a new frame or have the hanger rebrazed.

I found a new rear d, sora short cage, and will install it when I leave tonight.

If it weren't for bad luck right?
