Snide comment or not, passing on both sides "en masse" is pretty bad. I've had it happen, and it's a little scary at first if you're not expecting it after riding miles alone or with a small group. I wouldn't let it ruin my ride, though. Honestly, if being dumb makes them feel good, so what?
