like 3-10k in original bike purchases (I bought most used) and easily double that in upgrades and accessories including tools, touring equipment, shoes, apparel, helmets, lights whatever.

My guess is in the 15 to 20 range over the last 6 years, which really isn't that bad considering a lot of it is up front investments. Like tools, workstands, trainer, racks, bags. These things all pay off dividends in the LONG run, but cost a lot up front. Some of this was subsidized by sponsor and club discounts however.
