That's something I was worried about when I removed the bottom bracket a few weeks ago. I didn't have any trouble removing it, but they appear to have just used grease. I've had mine since late April or early May of 2008.

Sounds like it's worth checking to make sure whoever assembled the titanium bikes did it right.
