It's still not a Superior. No Superior would carry a Paramount serial number.

That non-mitered BB makes me wonder whether it was a Waterford rush job or not though. A Mainland Superior would not have as much seat or downtube penetration as shown here (maybe I'll pull the BB on my first '82 and photograph it for posterity), but the chainstay treatment looks identical. Mind you, Mainland was entirely capable of top-notch mitering - my '72 all-chrome Paramount is one of those examples.

Also note that it has a Columbus steerer. Not that it matters too much, but it's another data point you won't find on a Superior.

Nevertheless, the dropout serial number stamping tool appears to be similar to those used on the Superiors (see below). Bob, do you have a closeup of your Paramount's serial for comparison?



I'm beginning to wonder if this might be a prototype Paramount of some kind, possibly built by Mainland. Lewis, post some pictures of all the braze-ons when you get a chance.
