Maybe I have the wrong idea because you called it a "bike" path up front and then you proceeded to describe that bikes should be banned on the bike path that you were then riding a bike on.
+1! I was thinking speed bumps before I even got to this post, but there is the issue of wheelchairs and strollers. Don't want to make things harder for them

We have a multi-use trail with a 15 mph speed limit for bikes. Yes there are some speeding pacelines, but usually those happen when people get out of their day shift office jobs. When my elderly neighbor wanted to ride on this trail, I warned him of the speeding riders. We left the trail before they made their appearance.

I would never want to see cycling banned from our trail. It is a very popular cycling spot, and I think it was designed primarily for cycling.

Enforcement of existing rules is better than an outright ban, IMHO.
