Bikes: 1986 Alan Record Carbonio, 1985 Vitus Plus Carbone 7, 1984 Peugeot PSV, 1972 Line Seeker, 1986(est.) Medici Aerodynamic (Project), 1985(est.) Peugeot PY10FC

Update, did second stage cleaning today on the frameset:

It's cleaning up nicely and its turning out that the original finish is almost perfect. Almost everything you see on the tubes in the pics are reflections and not scratches. I hit the chromed lugs, fork and DO's with some aluminum foil to knock off some small rust freckles on them. They look brand new now. I also cleaned of some fo the remaining cello tape on the frame that was put on to protect the finish from clamped on components. WD40 melted all the hardened adhesive real quick. I hit all the frame tubes with some plastic polishing compound and they are now really shiney, the clear paint looking wet like water over the CF. When the sun hits the tube it makes the carbon filaments glow a golden amber color. I tried to catch that in the pics too.
After some deliberation, I also removed the big Campy decal on the DT as it was chipped at the edges anyway. I was most likely not originally on the frame anyway, and removing it kinda makes me feel more that this is my bike now. Fortunately, the finish under it was perfect. First mod I did on the frame so far is the addition of a Ciclo Linea chain hanger I just snagged from eBay after searching for it so long. It clips on to the seat stay. The chrome finish on the plastic matches the chromed lugs and DOs on the bike perfectly, plus I'll have to worry less about nicking up the chainstay.

It's gonna go through a 3rd/final stage clean up as soon as I get the BB off with a Phil Wood BB removal tool I still need to buy. I might also consider touching up a few stone chips on the clear paint on the upper DT The Campy seatpost binder bolt will also need to be removed as the female side is cracked at the head and stuck on to the clamp ear. It will need some careful attention lest I break off the seat lug clamp ear if I rush the extraction. There's also just a teeny bit of hardened adhesive form the protective scotch tape in a few spots that I did not want to rush removing. They will all be gone soon.....

Still not sure what I'll hang on the frame, whether I just re-install all the original components back on the bike which was my original plan, or because I did find a couple of components that are already a bit tired looking, maybe go full campy NR or SR, which will cost quite a bit. It's almost a shame to install all the clamped on stuff on the frame after I cleaned and polished her up, but I guess I do have to finish the bike.
