I've ridden in pacelines on a MUP (the infamous SRT) with other BF posters and we always followed the limit, yielded to pedestrians, always gave advanced notice and always passed with a friendly "hey hows it going", or "good morning". What other clowns do on the trail is not my concern, I'm not the MUP police.
But thats the point. Though you may be courteous and responsible in your bike riding on the MUP, far too many are not. I dont want to get into the minutia of sarcasm and going aback and forth with any BF member but I know whats "not right" when I see it. To me, what I witnessed yesterday was as close to recklessness as you will find. Perhaps your MUP is less crowded, wider, less inhabited or all of the above but to watch a rider swerve to miss a 5 yr old as she attempts to learn how to ride a bike cant be right.
We can hide behind "our legal rights" and "what we would do's" all day long but as responsible cyclists we should all do whats right and save the pacelines for the road. The basic idea of a bike path was to allow casual riders to meander alongside the river. It was never intended to be a training route for people who should know better.
