To get the weight off your hands, you need to be sure the saddle is tilted back about 1 - 2 degrees...

In other words, when you rest in the saddle, there should be a very slight touch of tendency for the rear to want to slide back into the saddle instead of forward and off...

If the tendency is to for a slight forward and off - that's what is dumping your weight into the bars...
