I would say leave the Univega alone it sounds like a great bike as is. If your interested in a nicer vintage bike I would suggest you start looking for something slightly nicer that needs some work to build up and don't be affraid to take your time. When it comes to vintage road bikes taking a few months time to really look for a great one to build up could save you several hundred dollars in the long run plus you will end up with a nicer bike. I usually keep at least one bike as rider but look patentialty for better deals to build up as keepers or sellers not being in a hurry will save you a lot money and problems.
