This does not sound like the work of eco-terrorists. It simply isn't their style, judging by what I've read about them. They like to burn stuff, it would seem. New luxury condo developments, car dealerships, etc. This sounds more like the work of teenagers, out to show how tough they are, or "teenagers in adult bodies", out to show how tough they are, so they'll have bragging rights at the local beer joint.

If the local PD won't investigate this as a serious crime, then it needs to go higher, say the district attorney. That aside, I hope local cyclists do some investigating on their own. These genetic defectives usually make one fatal mistake: They brag about what they've done. Somewhere, someone knows who did this.
