i'm a huge felt fanboy but when i bought a mountain bike they didnt offer anything that fit the type of riding i will do. light road bikes are great, but light mountain bikes are a little different. the back end will be jarred around when you hit rocks and roots, a heavier bike will help the rear feel like it's more planted. i cant offer any insight to full suspension or hardtail debate because i have no idea what your terrain is like where you ride. that is very important and specific to your location. if felt makes a bike that fits your goals and riding style, go for it. their attention to detail is amazing. specialized also makes excellent bikes so you have yourself a win win situation my friend.
