That's a very nice looking steed. I still love downtube shifters, I have a 90 Davidson with Dura Ace and 8 spd index downtube that I adore riding, I like the system better than my 98 Lemond Zurich with Ultegra Brifters. Maybe you ought to give them more of a chance, they are somewhat addictive for me.
