I was riding some new single track I discovered. Pretty standard for this part of the country: tight, heavily wooded with immeasurable amounts of roots and lying branches.
Anyway I'm riding along and my right grip gets caught by a hanging vine from one of the approximately 2 quadrillion trees bordering the edge of this trail. As it catches, it also snags my brake lever (rear lever). Simultaneously, I'm just about to go over some tree roots. Nothing difficult, but considering what is now happening it became pretty precarious.
It twisted my handlebar almost fully perpendicular to the frame. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW but I didn't go down. Every ounce of my experience riding bikes for as long as I've known how (since, oh, about 4 years old), told me that I was about to go down hard onto some tree roots.
But...it just straightened itself out and off I went. I have zero explaination for it. I haven't a single clue. I was even off balance when the bars caught. Maybe it's good karma for something I did.
