Jeezly CROW!
I 'member that stuff. About 20 years ago I went to Alaska via the Alaska-Canadian Highway ("the highway") with my boyfriend(now husband). We were driving his 60 bug and camping, living on very little money and eating almost nothing through Canada except fried eggs and pancakes (one of my husband's personal "soul food" meals). We started to pitch our tent by a lake, and the skeeters attacked. I dove into the tent with my boyfriend laughing at me; I HATE things flying around my face! Next day we bought some 95% deet in Whitehorse, Canada.
We used very little, according to directions, literally 6
drops of the stuff for each of us. We lightly passed our hands with the deet on them all over our bodies and lightly over our hair. We sat for lunch (more eggs and pancakes) and we could see the mosquitoes flying around trying to land on each of us, but they would come close, attempt a touchdown and
immediately take off; they really couldn't stand the deet. I was happy--no skeeters in my face or ears. That stuff worked great!
Of course you couldn't stand to close to a fire, and the stuff would dissolve certain plastice and was/is somewhat poisonous. . .but d@mn, it worked!
