That's about 900 miles each way? About 1800 miles round-trip? Wouldn't something like a Windor Tourist (or similar bike) with a steel frame, steel fork, and a rear rack be an option. The Tourist is like $599 to your door here in the states. You can always use it again for touring/commuting. That Felt fork is CF bonded to an aluminum steering tube. How do they hold up?
