Wide, upright/cruiser saddle (not a Brooks b67)

Hi -- I've turned an old rigid mountain bike into an upright (north road bars) city commuter. Though many people find the brooks b67 comfortable for upright riding, I can't do the b67 or b68 for upright riding -- i just don't have enough "padding" and find them too darned hard on the back, which is where I tend to gravitate.

I'm seeking a wide, cruiser-like saddle that is NOT one of those squish, "gel" gimmicks . Have any of you found a wide, but still decently firm saddle that works well for upright riding? Like I said, I really love my b67 for "level" riding position, but just can't do it for upright riding.

Thanks --
