if you decide on the Trek and ride it 1 k miles this year and the wheel does come apart it will be an absolutely great yr ! ! Don't over think it, buy whichever bike you like and ride it to it's death ...

fwiw, i bought a used trek 7500 early this yr and ride it as often as possible. Was it the perfect bike for me ??? Probably not but it works, it's fun and i feel better ...
