i only think having it professionally painted makes sense in these scenarios:
1. you are unable to spray paint (living conditions, etc.).
2. you are doing an original restoration.
3. you have more money than time.

if you can be gentle to your rattlecan job for about 3 months, it will probably hold up very well. touch up is easy as well.
