Masi Coltello and Sram Omnium Crankset
Hello everyone I am usually in the classic and vintage forum, but I am in the process of building a new track bike and have run into a problem. I got a good deal on a 2009 49cm Masi Coltello (The green one) and a Sram omnium crankset and bottom bracket. I installed the bottom bracket and crankset only to find out that the inside of the spider is touching the rear chainstay. If I put a spacer on the driveside of the bottom bracket it throws the chainline way off the 42mm mark and doesn’t leave enough of the spindle exposed on the nondrive side to tighten the crank arms without binding up the bearings. I actually saw a thread on this forum somewhere that said this combination does not work. I imagine I am going to have to get a different crank setup, but I have seen several 2009 Masi’s online with this Sram Omnium cranksets. What are they doing that I am not?
It seems like no matter what crankset I get, the spider and or chainring are gonna be pretty close to the chainstay. What quality crankset could I buy that has the chainring on the inside of the spider so I can get the chainline more correct and flush chainring bolts so those don’t stick out towards the chainstay either? Thanks in advance, Rick.
