While I have considered getting a cruiser, from Crappy (Canadian) Tire, or Wally World (Wal Mart), the big reason that's turned me off from doing so is because of where the bikes are made. China. The quality doesn't get any more non-existent than that.
There is a wide range of bikes made in China, even a bike that costs $2000 retail. It's more than just being made in China, it's the quality of the workmanship and the standards the brand sets and makes sure is adhered to.
