Depends on your perspective. If you hate germs, you need to wash more. If you don't care because the germs won't hurt you, you don't. Even if you wait until the bottles get slimy and the water tastes funny before washing them, it won't make you sick.

Anyone who'd kiss a dog is nuts to worry about this stuff. Come to think of it, kissing a spouse probably subjects you to a lot more germs than a water bottle that hasn't been washed for a few weeks.
