Your help is very much appreciated. I do apologize for my earlier reply, I was just frustrated at being made light of on a topic that is very serious to me. I don't have much so I try to take the best care of those things I do have.

Since appearance is a factor, I do want to keep it looking it's best. While it is appreciated, I don't think things like cleaning and wax will offer the protection I'm seeking for the paint so that's why I'm considering something like paint protection film. The paint of the few bikes I've owned have taken a beating especially around the chain stays so it's something that I'd like to try to prevent if at all possible. I was simply looking at using the it on areas such as the aforementioned chain stays as well as the seat stays, the underside of the down tube and the back of the back of the seat tube, although some of you have mentioned other important areas which I hadn't considered.

I have ordered some of the film but since I have no experience in this sort of thing, I'm looking into going to an expert in bike repair to put it on for me since I'd rather pay someone to do a good job than save the money by doing a crappy one on my own. The Calfee Design site suggests a repair dealer in Roswell, GA and since that is the closest listed on their site, I'll call them first. I hope if they have experienced in repairing and painting bikes, they might have some experience in applying the film as well. It won't hurt to call and ask. I've already ordered the tape so I hope that by the time it arrives I'll have found a shop to do the work for me.

As far as the bike itself, it's not a new one, it's a 2009 Scott CR1 Team. While it may not be the best looking bike in the world, it's what I've got so I've got to take care of it. Scott told me that adding the film to the bike will void the warrenty but since I'm not the original owner, that warrenty was voided when I bought it so that shouldn't be a problem. It's a nice riding bike, it seems to glide over the surface of the road rather than run on it. I hope that if I take good care of it, it will continue to do that at least for my lifetime. What happens after that is out of my hands.
