Nothing wrong with starting off with something less expensive then upgrading as they wear out or you need something better. My first set of panniers were Frostline made from a kit. They made it across the country and spent a few more years in commuting duty before finally disintegrating. Currently run Ortlieb Classics and Lone Peak, purchase on sale.
