Chrome didn't really come in until the 1920s, and nickel has a nice warm tone anyway. If it were mine I'd paint and replate. Yeah it looks kind of cool in the nude for the novelty of it, but it'll look a lot prettier painted.

Butted spokes seem to be pretty common on pre-war bikes, I've seen a few with them.
