Forget shifting preferences. Forget higher or lower gear ratios. How do you compare build quality (actual construction grade - engineering, maintainable, durability, reliability, etc) between SRAM Apex and Shimano 105. I'm mostly interested in the drive components for a mid level build.

You know if your really concerned about build quality your going to have to acess how one can determine build quality. Life expectancy is the general factor that comes to mind. Beyond that your going to have to take these things apart when they fail and see which parts failed etc.. That is going to be hard with brifters.
