My personal opinion is that EVERY SRAM component I have touched felt... cheap, or at least cheaper than Shimano. This includes XX on MTB's, as well as road. I have no performance issues with the SRAM I have tried, but I really feel that Shimano does in fact have more effort put into its manufacturing.

And then I rode Campy, and now I couldn't care less about Shimano or SRAM.
