A OnGuard U-lock for $30. Even if you are just stopping for coffee, you need a strong lock. I put $20 BMX pedals on most of my bikes, because they work well with sandals, tennis shoes, and dress shoes. But, try the Dahon pedals with your favorite shoes and see how they work.
Most folks pick a gear that is too hard, and that puts excessive pressure on the foot, so they think "these are bad pedals". To really judge the comfort of the pedal, pick an easy gear that allows you to spin the crank rapidly and easily, with little pressure on the ball of your foot.
There is a sub-forum on BikeForums just for folders. If you run a "Seach the Forums" for Dahon, you will find a lot of useful threads. I have waay too many bikes, but I'm tempted to buy a Dahon. The train in Houston does not allow bikes during "rush" hour, but I suspect I can claim the Dahon is "luggage".
