Spray painting them sounds like quite a task, to tape up the hubs and rim, and the nipples. Also, it would probably add a bit of weight, and possibly a wobble if too much was applied to one spoke. I guess I'll reserve the swap to if I break a spoke, but I've never done that yet, knock on wood.
