Really, who cares? Nobody needs to react to any observation, political or otherwise. They can choose not to.

And from what I observe, including in the deleted thread, quite often the problem is not the allegedly "political" comment but the determination of certain respondents to take offence. Perhaps they could just take care to post only when sober.
