+1 - meant to mention when I realized was rear wheel. Certainly would fit with detecting it on drive side. Note that unevenly worn cones will probably not always show the same play. I would encourage you to very carefully inspect the cups before replacing cones. A properly worn in bearing is very smooth, a poorly worn in one will just get worse.
